The River is proud of providing ministries for every walk of life. If you see one that you would like to be part of, please let us know.
Men of Valor
This ministry was created to develop a strong bond of unity, love, and brotherhood among men. Through this ministry they will be able to gain a strong understanding of their position as men of God in the body of Christ, their homes and their communities. For a men’s ministry to be successful it must offer something for every man. The goal should be to point men towards opportunities for spiritual growth. Therefore, this ministry offers the following opportunities:
Holding evangelistic meetings for the mass of unsaved men.
Offering training to men on how to share their faith.
Providing momentum events to motivate the mass of Christian men.
Maintaining discipleship group opportunities, bible studies, prayer groups and accountability groups.
Uplifting those who are weak, encouraging those who are strong, and glorifying God in everything that we do.
The Little River Band (2-8 Year Olds)
This is the ministry designed to set a fun but biblical foundation for the young children. Through a variety of tools such as songs, videos, and short stories, our teachers will present the gospel to our young ones in a fun and interesting manner.
This ministry is designed to build a solid scriptural foundation for our children according to Proverbs 22:6. “Train up a child in the way they should go; and when they are old, they will not depart from it.” At The River, we utilize several different teaching tools such as Bible verse memorization, dramatic skits, and Christian videos to fulfill this mandate of building a solid foundation. In addition, from time to time they have the opportunity to come before the congregation to demonstrate what they have learned in class. Our teachers have a heart for God and a true passion to teach the children. They have stated on many occasions that they enjoy the time they spend with the children and consider it a privilege to deposit into them the Word of God.
Women of Virtue
Proverbs 31:10 asks, “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.” The Women of Virtue is a ministry designed with this verse in mind. Through prayer groups, Bible study, conferences, retreats, seminars, and fellowship; the Women of Virtue are continually growing in their relationship with God and with one another. This ministry is structured to minister to the needs of women in and out of the body of Christ, teach them how to become more like Christ and ultimately walk in the honor of being a virtuous woman
Women of Wisdom
Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children (Titus 2:3-4). This ministry, the Women of Wisdom is based on this passage of scripture and is designed to be a living example for the Women of Virtue and all young women; as it relates to living a pure, holy, and virtuous life before God and the world.
Audio / Visual
These ministries work side by side and are responsible for the audio and video recordings of services and any events at the church. Also, those with social media experience are highly requested to serve in this ministry.
Intercessory Prayer Ministry
“And I sought for a man among them that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before Me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.” (Ezekiel 22:30)
The members of this ministry collectively and corporately pray for The River, the members, breakthroughs and all vision designated from the pastors concerning church matters. The members of this ministry are committed to the principles and discipline of prayer and fasting and spiritual warfare. Also, this ministry must pray for and intercede on behalf of those who are in authority and other leaders. The intercessory prayer leader is tasked to organize, develop, and provide the pastors with a schedule of monthly corporate church prayer meetings. This ministry is vital for the continued health and spiritual growth of the church.
Ministry of Helps
This is a warm and friendly ministry that requires all greeters to arrive before the service starts and to stand in the parking lot of the church. As members and guests arrive, you will be there to warmly welcome, greet, and provide directions, information and assistance to the members and guests. The greeter provides the first impression to those arriving at our church and we want to make it a wonderful experience for them. Our desire is to make everyone feel welcome, comfortable, and at home.
The ushers are the doorkeepers positioned inside the sanctuary to attend to the needs of each person. Also, the ushers are in charge of seating the people, making them feel comfortable and answering any questions they may have about our service. Additional usher duties include directions and assistance during altar calls, prayer lines, the serving of communion, preparation and assistance during water baptisms, receiving tithes and offerings and any other duties which may occur. Upon completion of the service, the ushers are responsible for cleanup and restoration of the facility. Also, the ushers will assist during special events in the church such as guest speakers, home goings, and fellowship events.
C.A.R.E. (CONTACT, ASSIST, RELATE, ENCOURAGE)
This is a follow-up phone ministry of the church that is designed to immediately contact the guest after their initial visit to the church. The River caller will identify to the guest who they are, briefly give the purpose of their call, thank them for recently attending the church, ask them if they have any prayer requests and encourage them by saying that we look forward to seeing them at church next week. Any prayer requests and or comments received from the call shall be given to the Executive Pastor for further follow-up and resolutions.
The Ministry of Music
The Ministry of Music consists of anointed and skilled vocalists and musicians who are led by the Holy Spirit to usher the congregation into the presence of the Lord. This will ultimately soften and break up the fallow ground of the hearts of the congregants which is key in the preparation process of hearing, receiving, understanding, and applying the Word of God that comes forth from the pastors.
The purpose of the dance ministries of The River is to glorify God through dance and to usher the people into worshipping the Lord freely, uninhibited and with liberty because the Bible says that where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty. Young Shekinah dancers are between 5-9 years old, Shekinah dancers are between 10-17 years old and Shekinah Glory dancers are 18 years and older.
